Learn how to capture delightful impressions of the natural world through minimalist line, ink, and color. Using flowers and natural objects as our subjects, we'll move through a sequence of exercises that build from close observation to personal expression and abstracted drawing techniques — learning how to simplify form, make decisive marks, and use color selectively. We'll focus on expressive, gestural drawing — learning to capture the character of a subject with a loose hand that emphasizes form and light over detail.
Then, we'll take the practice outside, applying these skills in a short outdoor session on the PNA campus before gathering to share our work and observations. Leave with new confidence in drawing from life both inside and outdoors.
